Reviews
just weird
The relationship with the private owners and the hotel is odd. The hotel itself is in a great location to the beach. The staff is extremely helpful. The sun patio was nice place to get away and enjoy the panoramic view. The staff at Hulla’s are super friendly and accommodating to those staying in the hotel. My room specifically was very outdated, mismatched / broken furniture, overly cluttered. Additionally the room was pretty dirty on arrival, furniture had clearly not been moved and cleaned behind in some time. Pictures and decor were full of dust, gross. The jalousie windows do not fully close, so the room will get warm during the day, additionally the AC blows directly at the bed, which is uncomfortable to sleep with. Additionally the blackout curtains are deteriorating from over exposure to the elements and age. Outlets were overloaded with extension cords, presenting a fire hazard, (as such outlets had burn marks as evidence of prior overheating). The room was fitted with a lot of “junk”, old kitchen appliances and things, that just makes the room look cluttered. The patio has a lot of “stuff” on it too, I appreciate the chairs and things being accessible if one needed to borrow them, but they are thrown on the corner, are dirty, and nothing I really would care to use. Just takes away from the serene feel. It would have been nice to have housekeeping, as that is the difference between booking a hotel vs an air B&B. You expect some pampering in a hotel… It just feels good to have the towels switched out, sand picked up off the floor and bed made up a couple of times during a stay. The hotel was undergoing construction, but caused overly little disruption to my stay. The noise was minimal, The elevators were shared with contractors, so I often took the stairs. So overall, the stay was just okay. It was unfortunate that the host just does the minimum. It could have been so much better.
